While there are volumes of books, articles and websites dedicated
to NLP, you will find very little about the MythoSelf™ model.
In short, NLP is the study of subjective experience, more specifically,
the study of successful people and what makes them successful. It
began in the 1970s with the work of Richard Bandler and John Grinder
and their study of a handful of Psychotherapists who were doing
consistently effective change work. Whereas many therapists saw
(and still do see!) their clients for years often with little or
no change, these particular practitioners would see clients often
for as little as one session and produce life changing results.
The three most closely studied were Milton Ericson (considered the
foremost expert on Hypnosis as therapy), Virginia Satir (the founder
of Family Systems Therapy) and Fritz Perls (the founded of Gestalt
Therapy).
Doing a search for NLP on the web will lead you to many of the
variations of this work and those who are practitioners of it, but
only a few of them (see “links”) have – in my opinion – the credibility,
integrity and power to consistently influence and change lives in
a positive direction. Those listed here are ones I know personally
and do not reflect others who may be out there.
Much of what is in print and in the media at this point regarding
NLP is either its application in the domain of persuasion and influence
(most highly trained Sales professionals have a background in NLP)
or in an outdated model of doing linear, step by step processes
to influence symptomological psychological change in people who
are seeking help.
My own training began with this basic study of NLP, however in
the last three years has shifted into an entirely different domain,
into something that is being called the next generation of applied
NLP.
The MythoSelf™ Model
This model of work was created by Joseph Riggio and evolved from
his own study of the Generative Imprint™ work of Roye Frasier. Rather
than ask the standard therapeutic question of “What is your problem?”,
in this work we ask “What are you like when you don’t have problems…?
When you are at your best?”
Amazing things begin to happen as a person is guided into a deep
and satisfying sense of himself or herself, as they know themselves
to be at their very best where all things become possible. Then
they begin to learn that there is a way they organize themselves
neurologically – literally in their bodies, where they fixate their
attention, how they hold themselves – that they can have this experience
in an ongoing way, moment to moment through time. How this is done
is a much more sophisticated question to answer and is only known
through experiencing it. I do teach the beginning level of skills
to do this in my three day Advanced Counseling Training for Child
Care Professionals – The key to how it effects my work is in
the emphasis on always operating off of a positive, resourceful
bias.
As this is a dynamic model, always operated in time, the only
writing that is done about it aside from the handful of us who are
trained and authorized to promote ourselves as practitioners of
it, can be found through Joseph Riggio’s web site: www.Mythoself.com
Most of the people who come to me for intensive private work in
this model, come for the same reasons they might have in the past
gone to therapy. I will get inquiries from people who want to cure
a phobia, to people struggling to make life choices and mostly,
people struggling with trying to get their life back on track… trying
to find their own path and their real voice. I also work with many
kids and with many parents. Most of my work is generated through
word of mouth as, aside from this website, I put nothing out there
as general marketing. Plenty of satisfied clients – myself being
one of them – will attest that this work, often more than any other
work they have encountered, changes lives.

for yourself the power of the MythoSelf™ model. Contact Jeffrey
about doing a Private session. While Jeffrey has many clients he
sees nationwide, sometimes he will offer referrals to several of
the other practitioners of this work around the US and in Europe.
Also inquire about opportunities to attend a three day MythoSelf™
workshop and training in the US or England. They happen periodically
and are hosted by Joseph Riggio.
